Hi, my name is Yeun. Welcome to skalatitude.net, a collection of thoughts and images gathered in simple HTML.

One day I was flipping this book called "Ecologies of the Heart: Emotion, Belief, and the Environment", and it wrote: "According to the wisdom of the land of giant trees, water and snow-capped mountains where the Lummi live, to become healthy and fully alive, you must learn to listen with your "third ear", which is the heart. The unique art that comes from the pacific northwest people who have learned to sense and feel the spirit of the region has the common form of trees, celestial bodies, mythic beings, and animals drawn with many eyes scattered throughout their bodies. This style suggests that to sense the special, subtle energies of place one must learn to use the entire body as an organ of awareness. Mastering this kind of seeing, one eventually develops a state of mind which the pacific northwest tribes called skalatitude. Roughly translated, this means that when one is in harmony and right relationship with the place where one lives, there is magic and beauty everywhere. In the English language there is no similar term, which suggests our loss of awareness of the sense of place in our lives." So it is thus said, as I read somewhere else: "Skalatitude is a sacred state of mind where magic and beauty are everywhere. You can walk with serenity through life, once you accept your own power to create what you want in your life."

That is my simple wish for the everyday - to see beyond the unbearable lightness of being, and to be in constant, full awareness of whatever surrounds us. As a wish, I am glad it remains wishful, and I hope you too, may find what you have been seeking, in this everydayness. (Some entries are written in Chinese only. My apology for any related inconvenience you may encounter for this website).
